IMAGE USE POLICY

The Museo Franz Mayer offers the use of digital images of pieces in the museum’s collection, views of spaces, exhibitions, as well as of activities conducted in the museum.

PROCEDURE

  1. Images may be requested from the individual in charge of the photo archives, by explaining the purpose of the request via letter, fax, or e-mail to archivofotografico@franzmayer.org.mx
  2. Requests will be evaluated by the Office of the Director of Collections and of the Deputy Director of the museum and will be answered in writing through the person in charge of the photo archive. Authorization for reproduction will only be granted for the purpose requested.
  3. If the image is published, the caption given by the Museo Franz Mayer must be respected, giving credit to the photographer, and a copy of the publication must be sent for the museum’s library.
  4. Images requested will be submitted in digital format at a resolution of 300 dpi. If a higher resolution is needed, cost and delivery time may vary.
  5. If a new photo is required, the museum will have it taken. If you wish to employ the services of a specific photographer for the photo, it is necessary to secure the prior consent of the Office of the Director of Collections. A duplicate of the images must be submitted to the Museo Franz Mayer in TIF format.
  6. The use of images for commercial purposes must be evaluated by the Director’s Office and established through a written contract.

  • Reproduction rights will not be charged in the case of publications related to exhibitions including pieces on loan from the Museo Franz Mayer.
  • Shipping costs will vary depending on the weight of the package and distance it is to be shipped.
